Radu Stroe is a Romanian navigational engineer and politician.
Representing the National Liberal Party (PNL), he was a member of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies for Maramureş County from 2000 to 2004, and sat in the Romanian Senate from 2004 to 2008, representing the same county. He returned to the Chamber in 2010, representing Bucharest, and started a new term in 2012, sitting for Ilfov County. During his Senate mandate, he was the Chairperson of the Joint Standing Committee of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate for the exercise of parliamentary control over the activity of the Romanian Intelligence Service SRI.
He was Minister Delegate for the General Secretary of the Government from 2006 to 2007. Prior to this, between 1997 and 1998, he was Deputy General Secretary of the Government, and between 1998 and 2000, full General Secretary of the Government.
Between August and December 2012 he was Minister Delegate for Administration, and between December 2012 and January 2014 he was Minister of Internal Affairs.
As Minister of Internal Affairs he was a full member of the Supreme Council of National Defence which is the authority in Romania invested with the task of organizing and coordinating the activities related to the defence of the country and national security.
He graduated in 1971 from the Civilian Marine Institute in Constanta, with a speciality in Navigational Engineering. In 1981, he received a Law degree from the University of Bucharest.
He received the Order of the Star of Romania, Officer Class.
